About Howlongtomakeit

Howlongtomakeit is a community-driven project that collects and shares information about how long it takes to develop games, and the approximate team sizes behind them. From solo indie experiments to large studio productions, the goal is to give players, students, and developers a sense of the scale of effort behind different titles.

Purpose

This site exists for educational and reference purposes. It aims to answer a common curiosity—“how long did it take to make this game?”—by combining community contributions with external sources. It is not intended as an authoritative database, but as a helpful guide and starting point.

Data Sources

Basic game information such as titles, covers, and platforms are provided by the RAWG Video Games Database. Development times, team sizes, and engine details are added by the community or gathered from public interviews, articles, or developer statements when available.

Accuracy & Legal Disclaimer

The information on this site may contain errors, omissions, or outdated details. Development timelines and team sizes are often approximate and can vary depending on how a project is measured. Nothing here should be taken as an official record or as business advice.

All game titles, artwork, and related intellectual property belong to their respective owners. Howlongtomakeit is an independent project not affiliated with any game developer, publisher, or database provider.

Contributing

If you notice a missing game or incorrect details, you can contribute corrections by using the “Add this game” option when searching. Every contribution helps make the database more useful for everyone.
